Good thinking, Captain!/Ajaccio

Overnight we travelled to Corsica. Seemingly Captain Pembridge was offered Toulon or Ajaccio as an alternative port to Cannes. He chose Ajaccio. On the other hand, the Captain of Brilliance of the Seas chose Toulon, and was met by 26 knot winds across the top deck. Oh dear! Arriving in Ajaccio, we were met by calm seas and a hot day. Gorgeous! Did I feel sorry for Brilliance of the Seas? No… their Captain chose Toulon.

I thought I’d been to Ajaccio before, but I didn’t recognize it. Mum and I were on a mission. Campbell loves Vico crisps and one particular type. We said we’d try Cannes, but tried Ajaccio instead as it’s a Department of France. Tried Monoprix and Spar, but no luck. Mum also needed the little girls room and the only way we could get one was become French and go to a café. So we joined the Café Culture, sitting at the roadside, watching the world go by. I’m quite proud of myself because I was able to order a diet coke for mum and I in French! All those French conversation classes paid off. They also paid off when trying to find the Vico crisps. I was able to converse with a lovely Corsican lady in Monoprix about trying to buy crisps. Go, Janette!

Two markets later, we were spent out. I’d bought a nice red coral necklace and earrings, and a tablecloth. Mum was buying postcards and tablecloths too.

Back on board, mum insisted I go down to the Spa for a treatment. I now have a seaweed body wrap booked for tomorrow and an acupuncture session booked from Tuesday. I can see mum in knots laughing at me looking like an Egyptian mummy!

The show tonight was called Gravity. It was ok. I’m not sure if I would hurry back to see it. It was a mixture of Space Age and Rock. Well, it started off like that. In the end, I’m not sure what it became. There were songs about pussycats, Uptown Funk and Skyfall (the singer on Britannia did a better version of Adele. There was no howling!). It was like a story that did a detour!

I’m in bed early tonight as we have an early arrival at Le Spezia. We pick up the Pilot at 5.45pm and should be docked by about 6.30am. Nighty night!!
