Cartagena/A very strange experience!
Arsenal |
The side of the Town Hall |
Cartagena is a strange town. I thought we
were going to a small place, but actually it is quite large with universities
and an Arsenal. Mum and I got off the ship early and I wanted to go to the
Roman Amphitheatre, but we arrived too early and went shopping instead. Half
the ship ended up in the same little shops along the main street. Mum wanted to
go on the bus tour, and actually, it was relatively inexpensive compared to
Barcelona.
Segways |
When the bus tour finished we went back to
the ship to have lunch, a sleep, and we started our packing. It seems strange
to pack four days before the end of the cruise, but I’ve learned that if you
don’t pack on a ‘land’ day, then you run the risk of packing while feeling sea
sick – not a good idea. The Bay of Biscay is unforgiving and has laid people
flat (and green!) in the past. Better packing before you’re laid out than
trying to pack in a swaying ship.
Leaving Cartagena |
After dinner, I had an appointment with Dr
Craig, the Acupunturist. After sticking the needles into me, I started to feel
a tingling sensation in my feet. Then, out of the blue, my right hand slowly
started to rise. I couldn’t put it down!!!! Then, suddenly, my left hand
started to rise too, and both my arms were ‘levitating’ in the air! As hard as
I tried I couldn’t put them down. When Dr Craig came back into the room, I
asked him what this was, and was it common. He said in the many years he’d been
practicing, he’d only seen this 5 times. It was a very rare reaction, but
nothing to worry about. When I’d left Dr Craig’s surgery, I feel really woozy,
then I got an amazing burst of energy. Mum wanted photos, but after that she
went up to the room then I walked around the decks. One small complaint about
Britannia, is that it’s had to walk around her decks as I find there are ‘partial’
decks everywhere, but not a whole deck to walk around. It’s more of an
inconvenience that a pain. Then I went inside and started to walk around the
Atrium and ended up down at the bar on Deck 5. So much energy!
Gibraltar tomorrow, but as we are leaving at 1.30pm, I'll not have time to post again. Next post is when I arrive in England! ;(
